Team Alignment Workshop Agenda for Leaders
A clear view of the facilitation process helps leadership teams understand what they are committing to before they enquire.

What happens in a team alignment workshop?
A team alignment workshop starts before the room gathers. The facilitator clarifies the leadership challenge, listens for hidden patterns, designs a focused session, guides honest conversation during the workshop, and helps the team convert agreements into behaviours and follow-up actions.
Before, during, and after the session
A strong workshop is not a motivational event. It is a structured process for surfacing patterns, creating shared language, and setting practical commitments.
- Before the session, clarify the business issue, stakeholders, desired outcomes, and any sensitive team dynamics.
- During the session, create safety, surface patterns, align expectations, and agree on behaviours the team can practise.
- After the session, document actions, review follow-through, and decide whether coaching or Reality Check measurement is needed.
A typical workshop agenda
| Phase | What happens |
|---|---|
| Pre-work (before the room) | Scoping call with the sponsor, brief 1:1 check-ins or a short survey to surface real issues in advance |
| Opening | Set ground rules, establish psychological safety, name the purpose of the session honestly |
| Core facilitation | Structured exercises to surface patterns, name what's unsaid, and build shared language for the issue |
| Commitments | Team agrees on specific, observable behaviours — not vague intentions |
| Follow-up | Written summary of agreements, a check-in point, and optionally a Reality Check measurement to track whether behaviour actually shifted |
Exact timing (half-day vs. full-day vs. a short series of shorter sessions) is scoped to the issue and team size during the initial call, not fixed in advance.
Choosing the right format for your team
- Half-day session: a specific, well-defined issue with a team that already has reasonable trust.
- Full-day workshop: a bigger or longer-standing issue, or a team that needs more time to build safety before real conversation happens.
- A short series over weeks: deeper dysfunction, new leadership, or where behaviour change needs reinforcement rather than a single event.
Common questions
How many people can attend a workshop?
This is scoped to your team size during the initial call — facilitation design (breakout structure, timing) adjusts accordingly.
Is this in-person or online?
Both are available. In-person tends to work best for the core facilitation phase; online works well for scoping calls, shorter check-ins, and geographically spread teams.
What follow-up is included after the workshop?
A written summary of agreed commitments and a follow-up check-in are standard. Reality Check measurement is available as an add-on where the team wants to track whether behaviour actually changed.
